Certified VS. Non-Certified Industrial Machine Appraisals
In the past, companies turned to brokers, dealers, and auctioneers for appraisals and valuations. However, these companies may have a hidden agenda. A large percentage of companies solely in the business of buying and selling are not certified or trained in providing USPAP-compliant appraisal reports. If you need a “Certified Appraisal” and the report you obtain is not USPAP compliant, it is not a “qualified” appraisal prepared by a “qualified” appraiser pursuant to the Council of Foundation, the IRS, and others. Beware of the individual who does not have certification; you will only be opening yourself up to increased costs, liability, and risk.
